Mox Toolbox keeps track of the Magic: The Gathering cards you own, helps you build decks from them, suggests cards to add, and gives you a table to play them on. It is a personal project, free to use, with a membership for a few of the things that cost real money to run. There is no guarantee that it works, keeps working, or keeps your data safe from your own mistakes. Keep your own records of anything you would be sorry to lose.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Ask and your account and everything in it will be deleted, and any membership on it ends with it.
Your collection and decks
What you record is yours. It is stored so the app can show it back to you across your devices, and it is not sold or handed to anyone else. A deck you mark public is the exception you choose: anyone with its link can open it, and it is listed on its commander's page for anyone to find, showing the deck's name and cards and not who you are. Make it private again and it comes off the list.
Scanning cards
The scanner reads cards with your phone's camera. The reading happens on the phone: what is sent to the server is the text it read and a small fingerprint of the card's art, so it can be matched to a printing. The picture itself never leaves your device and is not kept.
Decklists used to improve suggestions
Finished decks may be used to work out which cards get played together, which is what makes suggestions better than a popularity list. Only complete, legal decks are recorded, and only the card list and the format — not the deck's name, not when you built it, and nothing identifying you inside the decklist itself. Where the law requires you to be asked first, you are asked, and you can change your mind in Account.
The AI deck assistant
When you ask the assistant about a deck, that deck's card list and the cards being considered for it are sent to Anthropic, whose Claude model writes the answer. Nothing about you goes with them — not your name, your account or the rest of your collection. The answers are suggestions from a language model: they can be wrong about what a card does or what a deck needs, and they are not a substitute for reading the card. Each question costs money to ask, so the assistant is for members and has a monthly allowance.
Membership
Some features are for members: the collection insights, the AI assistant, the streamer window, dressing the table, and binders beyond the free four. Card data never goes behind the membership — every card, price and commander page stays open to everyone, with or without an account. A membership is either paid for or granted. A paid one renews until you cancel it, and cancelling keeps what you paid for until the date it was paid through. A payment that fails is retried before anything is taken away. When a membership ends, nothing of yours is deleted: binders beyond the free four stay where they are and can be read, but not added to, until the membership is back or they are folded into the others. Payments are taken by a payment provider, and its records are the record of what was paid.
Pictures on the table
A member can dress the playtest table with a card back or a mat, from the community catalogue or from any picture they link. A picture you link is your responsibility: only link what you have the right to show, and remember that the streamer window shows it to whoever is watching your capture. A picture that is unlawful, or obviously not the linker's to use, may be removed.
Fair use of the service
Do not attempt to break the service, take other people's data, or scrape it at a volume that spoils it for anyone else. Accounts doing any of that may be removed.
Card data
Card names, rules text, prices and images come from Scryfall, whose work makes this app possible. Card images are served from Scryfall and remain the property of their respective owners. Prices are indicative, come from third parties, are frequently out of date, and are not an offer to buy or sell anything.
Decks from Archidekt
The decks shown on commander pages that were not built here come from Archidekt's public listings. Each is its builder's work, is shown with their name and a link back to the original, and is here so a commander's page can say what its decks really play. If one of them is yours and you would rather it were not shown, ask and it will be taken down.
Card backs from MPC Autofill
The card backs in the table's catalogue were drawn by contributors to MPC Autofill, a volunteer community that indexes card images, and each is credited to the contributor it came from. They remain their makers' work and are shown here as MPC Autofill shows them.
Who handles your data
Your data is kept on a server run for this app, with Cloudflare in front of it carrying the traffic. Anthropic sees a deck's cards when you ask the assistant about it, and nothing otherwise. A payment provider sees what is needed to take a payment, and this app never sees your card number. Nobody else is given anything.
